We are a run/walk event. Whether running or walking, when the air horn sounds please finish your final lap and return to start/finish.

Course Description

Our race will be a ~1.5-mile loop course run located at Linfield University’s wellness trail. It is a mostly dirt/bark dust trail. The start/finish and aid station will be located just off SE Lever Street on Wildcat Circle (in google maps, it is the parking lot to the SE of the Linfield College Nicholson Library). There are plenty of areas for runners to set up their own aid stations or chairs along the course, and access to vehicles is very close.

What shoes should I wear? The trail is not very technical, with just a few tree roots; road shoes work best in dry conditions. If conditions are wet and muddy, trail shoes might be a better option.

Aid Station

We will have a basic aid station containing water, electrolyte drink, soda, and food such as fruit, chips, cookies, and PB& J sandwiches. Runners are free to have items placed at the aid station or set up their own aid stations in areas along the course. We are a cupless race, so you must bring your own cup for drinks from the aid station. Participants are never further than 1.5 miles from an aid station at a given time (only 3/4 of a mile if you're willing to go backward).

Swag

Each runner will receive a T-shirt and other special swag with their race entry. We also will be hosting a costume contest, so wear your most out-of-this-world costume!

Volunteer Information

We are seeking volunteers for our race! Jobs for volunteers include: Registration and packet pickup, course monitors, aid station, waste management, set-up/takedown.

Waste Statement

We are committed to minimizing our waste. We will have multiple compost bins throughout the start/finish area, as well as being a cupless race. Please make sure to bring a cup with you, as we will not provide them during the race! You are also encouraged to carpool to reduce your carbon footprint.

Personal Property Policy

Linfield University and The Race to Space are not responsible for personal property left out or in vehicles. The campus is generally safe, but it is an open campus so we can’t guarantee the security of personal property.

Refunds

Unfortunately, we will not issue any refunds or transfers should you not be able to run on race day. Costs are incurred prior to race day, and profits will be donated to a charity so we cannot make any exceptions to this policy.
